About this listen

Stealth. Gorgon. Regenerator. Cerberus. Zzzap. The Mighty Dragon. They were heroes. Vigilantes. Crusaders for justice, using their superhuman abilites to make Los Angeles a better place. Then the plague of living death spread around the globe. Despite the best efforts of the superheroes, the police, and the military, the hungry corpses rose up and overwhelmed the country. The population was decimated, heroes fell, and the city of angels was left a desolate zombie wasteland like so many others.

Now, a year later, the Mighty Dragon and his companions must overcome their differences and recover from their own scars to protect the thousands of survivors sheltered in their film studio-turned-fortress, the Mount. The heroes lead teams out to scavenge supplies, keep the peace within the walls of their home, and try to be the symbols the survivors so desperately need. For while the ex-humans walk the streets night and day, they are not the only threat left in the world, and the people of the Mount are not the only survivors left in Los Angeles. Across the city, another group has grown and gained power. And they are not heroes.

What made the experience of listening to Ex-Heroes the most enjoyable?

This was a well produced audiobook.

Who was your favorite character and why?

To many to mention that they where all good.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The onesided conversation is an absolute jot to listen to.

Any additional comments?

This is my second Peter Clines book and like the first this one has not disappointed. What we have is a Zombie vs. Superheroes storyline dressed up for a wider audience. I loved how the author chops and changes the narrative to keep the tempo up. I especially loved the chapter that was told from only one side of a conversation. I would love an entire book wrote in this manner (Mr Clines that was a hint).

The story is simple and easy to follow and even though this book is full of zombies it does not feel like a zombie book. The book is far from original, yes there is a virus and the "ex's" need a shot to the head to truly die, but what it delivers is a cracking story. Chuck into the mix Superheroes each with their own unique powers and we have a geek nirvana. Oh did I also mention that when a Superhero dies they become a Super-Ex. I probably should mention that as it whacks up the geek squeal factor a couple of notches. This is a series is one I can see myself quickly devouring.

Zombies but not as you know the,

Even after reading the paper version of the book and listening to it for a third time, this story never gets old.

Master story- teller

This book is well narated with two readers portraying the different characters. I can't say that I really liked this book, but I did enjoy it and bought the second one. The world has collapsed after a virus kills nearly everyone and turns them into zombies. A small enclave of people are barely surviving in Los Angeles, aided by some superheroes. The story slowly unfolds through a series of short chapters told from the point of view of many different characters, both relecting the past and the present. Sometimes this was a little confusing.

Zombies and superheroes. Need I say more?

I've liked everything I've read by Peter Clines and I enjoyed this one too. It took me a little while to get into but once I did I was hooked. The narrators were amazing and you could really tell between each character

Funny take on a zombie story

great story about sups in a zombie run world. Lots of fun characters and new imagined hero's.

Good mash up

Bad characterisation, poor story. Great idea to mash up zombies and super heroes but the story left me cold. I finished it but was underwhelmed.
