Publisher's Summary

Dating can be tricky, but how hard can it be to find the right guy? Or even just a normal guy?

For Everly Dalton, it’s a bit like trying to walk in stilettos - while drunk, blindfolded, and wearing the wrong size shoes. She hasn’t exactly been lucky in love. In fact, she just might be cursed.

A guy who only dates lookalikes of his ex? Pass. An alpha-male businessman who bolts in a moment of crisis? No, thanks. A date that turns into the creepiest interview in the history of ever? Where does she find these guys?

Join Everly as she dishes to her friends about the surprising, unpredictable, and sometimes crazy adventure that is modern dating. Will she keep matching with frogs or find her Prince Charming?

Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters originally appeared as six serial episodes in Claire Kingsley’s newsletter. The complete series is available here in one volume. Each episode is an account of one of Everly’s (typically terrible) dates. This series of short stories takes place before the full-length, stand-alone hot romcom, Faking Ms. Right.

A Hilarious and Fun Prequel Novella

Overall 4.5 stars
Performance 4.5 stars
Story 5 stars

What a hilarious and fun little prequel novella to Faking Ms. Right! Everly Dalton's Dating Disasters was originally sent in the author's newletter as a six part serial. It is broken down into little episodes featuring the terrible dates poor Everly has had to endure in the search for love. The listener/reader is introduced to the Dirty Martini Running Club, which includes Everly and her BFF's, Nora and Hazel. Each episode/date was wonderfully unique and had me laughing out loud. The gym bro episode was especially hilarious! I really enjoyed Emma Wilder's narration and her comedic timing was spot on. Sometimes the characters sounded a little too similar, but overall, this was a quick and fun listen that has me excited to start Faking Ms. Right!

This was a hilarious quick listen.

Everly's first date exploits were painfully funny. Bless her, she's got the best attitute that maybe the next date will be a good one. No such luck. Her besties are her biggest supporters, and they want her to have a great date so badly. I think they enjoy the stories more than they're letting on. I can't wait to start Faking Ms. Right if this prequel is any indication of what I can look for.

As always Emma Wilder does a great job capturing Everly's persona. She's becoming one of my favorite narrators. Very versatile.

Hilarious Dating Misadventures!!

Everly Dalton's Dating Disasters (A Faking Ms. Right Prequel) is a hilarious dating memoir. I absolutely loved this entertaining prequel novella to get your toes wet. Broken down into episodes, each one comical in their own way. I absolutely loved Everly's character and her best friends were so much fun. So excited, I couldn't wait to listen to Faking Miss Right.

Emma Wilder naration was flawlessly smooth. Her inflection is exhilarative and an indulgence. Highly entertaining.

A first all around as both author and narator were both new to me and will be interested in listening to other audios. I highly recommend listening to this series.

Hil⭐ar⭐ous⭐!!

I already listened to the full length Faking Ms. Right and loved it. Everly did have some of the most outrageous dating disasters. There was one date she was sharing with her friends that left me laughing thru tears. Glad that HEA was just just an audible away...lol
Emma Wilder did a great job sharing these funny stories with us. I know some of us could relate to at least one of these whether personally or thru someone we know or heard. Was a funny short novella. Enjoy!!

It was amazing but..

well before I get to my “but” & no that’s NOT what she said.. okay well it is.. literally.. ugh fine have your laugh I’ll wait.....:OKAY so first I have to preface with 2 things..1 Claire Kingsleys amazing writing and story crafting that makes this world come to life and I always love reading anything written by her because it’s never just a one click it’s a upgrade. And the audio that Emma Wilder performs is so Everly it instantly brings to Claire’s words to your ears and transports you so much so you feel as if you’re sitting at their table with the girls listening (& reacting) to Everly venting to us (or for those with less imagination you can easily feel as if you’ve been called in to hear on group chat). However I like to be honest with my reviews which is how they stay so trusted for either good or bad and not just fluffy BS like half of professional reviewers nowadays- I made the mistake, yes me and me alone NOTHING to do with quality more to do with preventing you, my fellow audio/ebook loves, of not realizing how short of a novella it was. So while hilarious and an awesome listen I wouldn’t buy both the book and the audiobook (again my own mistake but I like to both read & listen to the books when I can’t be reading as I get things done for my toddler and take on life like a ninja in general- reading is my obsession. I only have time for audios if it’s better then the book wbyt I can’t stand when it sounds like the person reading it is bored and just reciting sh**. However this narrator Emma Wilder was so great I actually spent my time listening to the very quick novella and before I knew it POOF! It was done and I’d never once opened the book I paid for. Kind of disappointing (Amazon should really let us Nerd Novelists & Book Babes (as my book review alias entails) return a book if we never opened a page when I’m sure you like me are an audible member & a kindle unlimited member & im even an escape member. Not cause I have extra money laying around) cause let’s be real here you have a better chance of being rich from winning the lotto than you do working 3 non-exec jobs nowadays). Far from it but as you guys all know it means my money goes 100% to everything for my child & bills & I sell my purses or shoes or anything I can so I can to read (I know all you girls out there who do the opposite are wondering what’s wrong with me.. but it’s true. I’d rather a membership for books & audiobooks even more than shoes. And I like shoes. But books, well books are everything. And I hope to teach my daughter that just as my dad and his mom and so on because it’s true that they idolize and copy us. Purses can be nice. Books, well books can make you cry, make you laugh, make you fall INLOVE, change your life, change your mind, educate you, inspire you & you inspired & you educated can change THE WORLD!)

So as I said I wouldn’t buy both but not due to the story. I’d say choose one or the other. Def get one or both though cause you’ll cry laughing to this prequel! But if you’re a multi book a day reader like me you may want to choose just one format cause it is a short prequel novella for obvious reasons- it’s meant to be fun & is.

Hilarious

As someone who had to navigate the dating scene in NYC, this book was reminiscent of some of the funny, if slightly awful dates I've had in the past. It was awesome. I really enjoyed it and laughed out loud, while commiserating with Everly. I read/listened to this back to back with her next book Faking Ms Right and both bring out laughs as well as so much excitement for this new series with three fantastically amusing women who are smart, loyal and true to each other and themselves. i look forward to more of these books!

Emma Wilder is perfect for Everly. Great pacing, comedic timing. I enjoyed the audiobook very much!

Amazing

This has me laughing so hard I started coughing on many occasions I love how the story starts by Everly talking with her friends and then it opening up to how the date went down. This is a fantastic pick me up story if your feeling a little down this will have you laughing along within minutes

Hysterical prequel

I don't think I have laughed out loud to a book like I did when I listened to this one. The prequel to Faking Ms. Right, this introduces us to Everly and the Dirty Martini Running Club(Hazel and Nora). It's split into 6 episodes, each a horrible date that Everly is on, and will leave you with a smile on your face. Listening to this may hit home a little too much with each disaster being something we all can relate to. It's the perfect segway to book one and I really enjoyed it.

Emma Wilder nails this hilarious story with her amazing comedic timing. It's the first time I have heard her do comedy and I could not have been more impressed. She gives all the disasters that little bit of sarcasm so we can get through and move on to the next one. I loved her performance.

Great Story & Narration🎧Enjoyable & Entertaining!

This is a fun and enjoyable book, it is well written and well told with interesting storylines that will captivate you and put a smile on your face. Claire Kingsley has a way with words and she fit a lot of story into her novella. I like how each chapter was broken into episodes, each episode is details of Everly Dalton’s Disastrous Dates and some of them are real doozies. Everly is a great character, she has a wonderful sense of humor and ability to just go with it. She has a great group of friends too. This is a quick read and/or audible listen, once you start it you will not want to put it down, you have to know what happens next. Claire Kingsley, thank you for this great book, I am looking forward to what is in store for Everly in “Faking Ms. Right”.

I listened to the Audible edition, Emma Wilder is a fabulous narrator and voice artist. She brings the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she projects the characters emotions into her performance. Her portrayal of Everly and the secondary characters was spot on, they sounded as you pictured them to be. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧
