About this listen
Pain burned through my veins like wildfire, electrifying each nerve ending and searing through every thought I had ever had. I was sure this was how I would die, and I wished it would hurry up.—Charles Walsh.
Deep in the woods a darkness stirs and impossible, horrifying, creatures exist. Deputy Charles Walsh had always held a healthy level of skepticism. However, when he meets Eric Linnaeus, a man marked by the fae and trained to kill, he is forced to accept a new reality. Facing supernatural creatures and cursed objects, he discovers that everything is not as it seems. If he hopes to survive, he must learn from Linnaeus, yet he can’t help but wonder—is this man’s word to be trusted?
Book one in the dark fantasy horror series Eric Linnaeus.

fantasy and rural spooky-ness
I really enjoyed the writing and the world itself. the narrator chosen did a great job voicing a broad range of characters. a fascinating story of fae and otherworldly magic, lots of monsters and spooky rural story vibes.
I listened in just two sessions and did not want to put the story down. the main character has so many mysteries surrounding him and we get quite a few answers to Eric by the end but we also have more questions about the other characters and the institute that Eric has grown up in.
like I said it's a great listen. I found the story by the authors social media posts with comic style illustrations of the main relationship, and was not disappointed by the story itself, I am eager to see where the next books go and wish that there were more narrated audiobooks out as I find listening easier than sitting down for hours to read.
hope this recommendation is helpful to someone considering reading :)
