Publisher's Summary

With the rennovation of her family home in Georgia complete, Nia Freeman and her partner Thandi Kapencher are trying to reestablish some semblance of normal life.

Nia is volunteering at a nonprofit for children where she meets a high school student, Bradley Marìn. She becomes a mentor to Brad after learning that his mother suffers from early-onset Alzheimer’s disease and that his only brother, an up-and-coming talented rock-star, popular for his socially aware music, is doing his best to hold the family together.

Thandi is still devastated after the loss of her brother Karabo to the US Witness Security Program and has taken a sabatical from her job as a professor of African studies at Dumas College to care for Karabo’s infant son. In Brad she sees her lost Karabo.

When Brad’s brother is senselessly murdered, Nia is summoned by the police to retrieve him from the crime scene. At Brad’s behest and the urging of the police, Nia and her childhood friend John Cole begin a quest to find out who killed the controversial rock-and-roller and why.
