Publisher's Summary

"She went home with someone else that night?" Hearing the disbelief from my best friend's mouth makes the events of my failed date sting that much more. I would like to make it known, I have a lot more swagger than what it seems. I don't normally ask a girl out, have her fail to recognize it's a date, and then give me a high five - as if I'm her wingman - and take off with someone else. No. Normally I'm the one taking the girl home, but with Stella, it's been one failed attempt after another and frankly, I'm done trying.

But thanks to my best friend getting married in Hawaii right before the school year starts, I'm stuck on a tropical island, watching Stella parade around in what she claims is a bathing suit. Unfortunately, that's not the worst of it - just the tip of the iceberg. Because what I think is going to be a relaxing vacation, avoiding the one girl I can't seem to make it work with, has turned into a spectacle of being recruited as Stella's doting fake fiancé so she can save face with an old "friend" from high school. Now, I'm navigating through purgatory while trying not to get turned on by the way she holds my hand or kisses my jaw. It's all fake, that's what I keep telling myself - even though it feels entirely too real.

Fabulous 🤎🤎

I loved these characters. These two were hilarious 😆 they were up down, on and off . You didn’t know if they were together or not and their friends were hilarious 😆 I especially loved it on audiobook as I got to hear my favourite narrator Sebastian York and Erin Mallon. They definitely brought this story to life. 🤎❤️💕❤️🤎

Another cute & fun Rom Com by Meghan Quinn. I didn't realize this was part of the same world as See Me After Class, not sure why it's not listed as a series but that would have had me even more excited if I had know since I really enjoyed that book too. It was great to spend the day with all the same characters, like visiting old friends. Stella and Romeo were fun and sexy but man the lack of communication drove me crazy but that's because I don't enjoy unnecessary drama. Luckily it all came together nicely and we are all set up for the next book.

Erin Mallon & Sebastian York were perfect... as always!!

3.5 ⭐️s - Not MQ’s best, but great narration

Honestly, I had a hard time getting into this book. I couldn’t take more than a little bit each day, especially during the first 11 or so chapters, so it took over a week for me to complete this ALC. It wasn’t the fault of the narrators, at all. Erin Mallon and Sebastian York were wonderful; they always are. SebYo was particularly great as the H, and I really liked Romeo as a character. But, despite Erin Mallon being her amazing, talented self, I just could not come to care about the h. I found Stella’s characterization as it interacted with some of the tropes grating at worst, dissatisfying at best. Between “father remarrying a younger woman”; “HS nemesis/insecurity”; and “fake dating/engagement” – there was just too much, and because I wasn’t there with the h from the start as a character, I had no patience with her as the plot progressed and the tropes played out. Obviously, tropes are a key ingredient to romance novels; that being said because tropes and the genre are so intertwined, it’s all the more important that they work if a reader/listener is going to be immersed. For the trope to avoid actually feeling like a trope, the characters have to be developed in a way that makes the reader forget the potential contrivance of the construct. If I can’t get on board with one of the mains, as was my experience with Stella, that’s just not going to happen for me and it didn’t; I got there with Romeo, but as enjoyable a character as he was and as wonderful a performance as SebYo gave, that wasn’t enough to salvage the experience.

Meghan Quinn has great comedic skill; I frequently laugh out loud with her books, and she usually has a deft hand with plots and characters. But while this book had a few funny moments here and there, between too many tropes and an unlikeable heroine, I couldn’t get to a place where I felt invested in the story and by the end I almost wanted Romeo to leave Stella behind. Not sure that this is worth a credit (unless you’re a MQ devotee); perhaps wait until the audio comes to your library via Hoopla, etc. instead, or maybe when it’s included in a great sale.

I received an advance listener copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Good but drawn out

I am still fairly new to Meghan Quinn's work, but one thing that stands out is the stories are longer than necessary. I enjoyed meeting Romeo and Stella in See Me After Class and was excited to get to their story and see what kind of fun they could get into, but the story felt like it dragged on before anything really happened between them. Stella was immature, insecure, and was too resentful. Though he initially stood his ground with Stella, Romeo just became too complacent in trying to help her save face in front of her family.

Erin and Sebastian did a great job with the narration.

ARGH!!!

This book frustrated me so bad. It got irritating as the couple kept being idiots, I get it, I do but the mixed signals and the way they missed the connection was drawn out way too long. I enjoyed Sebastian’s narration so much. Once again, it has been proven I need to listen to the male narration and read anything Erin Mallon narrates. I adore her on her IG lives and stuff, and enjoy her male narrator voice, but she narration is FAR too breathy and singsong. So much so it takes away from the story. Drives me crazy, I have begun to do without an audiobook with my favorite male narrator because I can’t handle her narration. I know it seems mean, but she narrated differently than she normally talks.

Sign me up for class!

Finally! The angst and tension surrounding Stella and Romeo has come to a head. They've been friends and colleagues, but lately it's been tense and awkward. When Stella runs into her father and his new fiance, her archenemy from high school, she all kinds of flustered and lies about her relationship status. Romeo somehow finds himself roped into playing doting fiance. Being around Stella makes him grumpy and extra moody since she friendzoned him. As they spend more time together, they see different sides to the other and share some of their deepest secrets as well as finally discover their communication skills could use some work because situations have been misinterpreted along the way.

Oh how I love this group of friends and colleagues. It reminded me of the camaraderie I had with colleagues as a former teacher. The secondary characters have had their own stories told and Stella and Romeo's story was just burning to be out in the world. I can't wait to see if Keiko gets a story of her own!

Sebastian York and Erin Mallon were amazing storytellers and personified Stella and Romeo so perfectly.

I received an advance copy of the audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Good not great!

I read the reviews on this one but still thought I would take a chance on it anyway. It was a little drawn out but I enjoyed it all the same. I do feel as I'd Meghan could of wrapped this up in less than 11 hours (way to drag out the drama) I mean let's wrap it up already!!! Is it worth a credit yes!!! Will you want to fast forward through some of the drama yes!! Hey the choice is yours😊

So Good!

I listened to this book on audio and the narration was very good.
This story is a friends to lovers, fake relationship story that starts in a destination setting for the wedding of the main characters. (See Me After Class is their story).
This is about Stella and Romeo who have had some bumps in their friendship. Stella finds herself in the most ridiculous situations and I literally laughed out loud at some points, but yet could feel some despair over experiences she had in high school.
You would expect Romeo to be a tough, egotistical jock but he is so sweet and gooey.
There are some really HOT scenes that I think were made hotter by listening to them on audio. Whew!
MQ stories never disappoint me.

This was a different sort of romance and I laughed out loud so many times! Narration performance really made this book worth while! The two week, destination wedding turned fake relationship was fantastic. I needed the distraction and the laughs.

Stella is so whiny

I loved turners and Grier’s story. It was funny and awesome and a great story. But Stella is just such a whiny baby the whole book. First she uses everyone because she wants to be be better than everyone. And then when she realizes she uses everyone she continues to use Romeo but never commits and sabotages their relationship on purpose every chance she gets. I was excited for Stella story but she truely is a whiny baby in an adult body. I barely made it through. I hope Pikes and Cora story is better. I bet even Kiekos story would be better.

Top listening experience

Sweet baby Jesus... Romeo is all kinds of delicious. Sweet, selfless, sexy, and a little possessive, he definitely stole my heart.

Stella - feisty, fun, a little lost, and a hot mess - there was a lot for her to discover in her journey and a mountain of growth in her character.

Sebastian and Erin did an amazing job with narration. Seriously, it's one of my all time favorite audiobooks.

The banter, the chemistry, the tension, the frustration - it was intense, it was hilarious, and it was all kinds of steamy.

It was also infuriating. The way that Stella and Brock kept dancing around each other, never quite getting there almost made me angry. But, boy the ride to the finish line was so worth it.

I loved this book, despite the frustration because it was funny, playful, hella hot, and a really enjoyable book to listen to.

A Great Romantic Comedy!

Brock “Romeo” and Stella's story is fun, sexy, and sweet. This is a well written friends, to enemies, to lovers story. Brock is handsome. Stella is sassy, and independent. I loved to follow them in their journey to love. The supporting characters are great, and they have an important part in this story. This is a great Romantic Comedy. Sebastian York and Erin Mallon did a wonderful job with the narration. I enjoyed it.

Extra Credit

Earn Your Extra Credit is Romeo and Stella's friends to enemies to lovers story. There is so much to like about this book. Particularly, the humor. There were so many laugh out loud moments between the two main characters and their quirky group of friends. There were also some really sweet and heartfelt moments as well. I was emotionally all over the place. I felt so bad for Romeo but at some point I was thinking that he was bringing much of his heartache on himself. Stella really had family issues she had not emotionally dealt with and it was clear that it was affecting her ability to have a true relationship.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I am so glad I did. Although Erin Mallon is usually great, she absolutely knocked this one out of the park. Her comedic timing is the best in the business and it really shone through. At the same time, she delivers emotion in a way that makes me feel it myself. Sebastian York was also particularly good in this book. He is also very good at comedy and I feel like he really delivered.

It’s worth more then a credit

Meghan Quinn knows how to write a very well written story. It have everything you need in a story . Well written scenes that flow great . The characters are very well written. The story is Well written and leaves you wanting more! . It’s another story that will laugh till your on the floor .
You meet the two main characters in a previous story . Brock and Stella Brock has had feelings for Stella for a long while , he’s trying to decide if he should act on them. Brock asks Stella out. Only thing is Brock doesn’t tell Stella it’s a date things heat up for both of them Things fall into place for Brock and Stella during a wedding of Greer and Arlo's wedding. Stella is put on the spot and she has no choice but to ask Brock to be her fiancé. Brock hopes it becomes real. You get a little glimpse of what couple will be next

The performance of Erin Mallon and SebYo is fantastic. They both brought the stoy to life . They do all the feelings and tones great

A hilarious tropical workplace romance

Meghan has crafted another fantastic book with Earn Your Extra Credit. If you have read See Me After Class you will know doubt have been intrigued by Stella and Brock 'Romeo' Romero's chemistry and him wanting to date her and her not taking the hint at all. I have both read and listened to this book now. The audio was great Erin Mallon did an amazing job as Stella and completely captured Keiko's quirkiness. Sebastian York as Romeo was another great casting choice although some moments I was looking forward to from reading the book first lacked intensity for me. I absolutely found myself laughing out loud in the street as I listened though.

From start to finish I could not put this book down, from funny, to heartfelt, from cold to steaming hot this couple covers about ever emotion possible and it sweeps you away in their whirlwind holiday romance.

Earn Your Extra Credit had me hot under the collar on several occasions, the chemistry between these two was insane! Not only that but Stella's ownership of her sexuality and sensuality was really empowering and I loved seeing that side to a heroine. Of course this is a Meghan Quinn book so there were countless times I sat chuckling to myself with the chaos caused in some of the scenes. Then on the flip side the grand gesture definitely gave me a lump in my throat and a lip wobble because I was 100% invested in these characters!

Romeo and Stella!

Due to an injury Romeo’s baseball career came to a premature end and he is now working as a teacher/coach at the high school. He has had feelings for Stella for a while however his attempt to become more than friends did not end well. Since that debacle he has tried to put as much emotional distance between them as he can which will be difficult as they are both attending their friend’s destination wedding.

Stella is Romeo’s fellow teacher and she thought they were friends however he certainly isn’t acting like it. Her friend’s destination wedding takes a turn when she runs into her father and his fiancé who happens to be the girl who made her high school experience a nightmare. Before she knows it, she is telling them she is engaged and now she just needs to convince Romeo to play the part.

The only pretend part of the relationship was Stella and Romeo pretending they didn’t have feelings for each other. The narrators did a great job of bringing out all the witty banter, hot chemistry and all the feels as the depth of Romeo’s love for Stella is enough to make you swoon.

A Fabulously Delightful Story & Listen 🎧📚🎧

Loved this book, Meghan Quinn is a gifted author and a master of RomCom, she never fails to deliver the laughs and the love, a perfect balance of comedy and romance. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to fall in love with too. I adored the two lead characters Brock “Romeo” Romero and Stella Garcia, teacher co-workers and friends. Brock wanted to take their friendship to the next level but she missed that memo and his first intended date turned out to be an epic fail, turning their friendship in to the frenemy category. Stella never knew why things changed between them, but working together and sharing the same circle friends it was hard for Brock to avoid her. Their friends Arlo and Greer are getting married in Hawaii and planned a whole week of wedding festivities for friends and family. Stella was surprised to not only find her father was staying in the same resort but he was there with his new fiancé, making matters worse it is someone she knows and has history with, not good a good history. Ashley two years he senior was a bully to her in her own H.S. days and seeing her brings back all of Stella’s insecurities from those days. Put on the spot she comes up that she is there with her fiancé and blurts out Brock’s name. Now she has to convince Brock to get on board and play the role, not an easy task but his feelings get the best of him and he goes along. I love how everything plays out in this book, the story is mesmerizing and entertaining. There are many hilarious scenes, I loved Stella’s shenanigans and her sass. The secondary characters, her friends are awesome too. There is also some drama, a touch of angst, heartfelt and emotional moments and a wonderful romance. Meghan Quinn thank you for another fabulously delightful novel and a fun and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Erin Mallon and Sebastian York’s talent knows no bounds. They are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. Their portrayal of each character is just amazing, they grasp each character’s persona completely then take the role and make it their own, sounding believable and just how I picture them to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, handle the witty dialogue with ease and landed the humor flawlessly. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

RomCom Standalone

Earn Your Extra Credit is standalone from a series of standalones, where you will find amazing characters and stories. In this case, we get Romero (Romeo) you know him from See Me After Class, and now we get Stella the Spanish teacher. I love Romeo's character, he is hot, fun, and definitely, one you want to get to know. Stella however even though she is older she is a bit immature for my liking, but that makes the story a bit different. You get to see your other favorite characters, the story is fun and entertaining. I got the audiobook narrated by Sebastian York and Erin Mallon are one of my favorite duets narrating books, and they certainly did a terrific job with this story. Even though I am used to their voices, I really like that they give all of their characters their own personality. Would totally recommend you getting the audiobook.

Please, can I have some more?

After reading See Me After Class I was hoping that Ms. Quinn would give us more from this world. And this one far from disappointed. It was once again the friend group for me and even though I wanted to shake both Stella and Brock at times, I couldn't put this down, even as I was yelling at them to just talk. This was a delight and a pleasure to read. It made me laugh, swoon, and my heart ache just a little bit. This author once again hit a home run. I volunteered to review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.
