But it’s far from the truth. Doctor Drew Devlin is not the respectable figure he makes out to be. Some people think I’m jealous of my sister, but it isn’t true. I love her confidence; her free spirit. She’s the reckless one in the family, always wearing skimpy clothes and posting her life on social media. I prefer reading, walking my rescue dog and early nights in my New York apartment. It’s not that I meant to keep her a secret from my boyfriend, Bradley, but she just didn’t come up in conversation.

Story
There once was a killer who knew the night, its secrets and rhythms. How to hide within its shadows. When to hunt. He roamed from town to town, city to city, choosing his prey for their beauty and innocence. His cruelties were infinite, his humanity long since forfeit. But still... he had not yet discovered how to make his special mark among monsters, how to come fully alive as Death. This is the story of how he learned those things, and of what we might do to ensure that he does not visit us.

Publisher's Summary
A seaside retreat has just become a killer's favorite playground.
It's summer on the Jersey Shore. Children play on the beach. Husbands are off working in the city. And the surf echoes in the night. Here, in this perfect place, a serial killer has no worries in the world - except choosing the next victim.
Cam Hastings has come to Long Beach Island with her teenage daughter and the hope that maybe she can save her failed marriage. Cam has never stopped loving her husband, Mike, nor has she been able to outrun her flaws and demons - a vanished mother, a lost sister, and the ugly visions she has of missing children.
Now, Cam is about to step over the edge. For once, she will act on one of her visions - and then face the consequences. For a killer has just struck again. And for Cam, and the people she loves most, fear has come home for good.

Really good.
This was a interesting story plenty going on with twist and turn from the start. as a good ending.Found the narration a bit of a drone in places otherwise fine.

It took a long time to get there
The story had good bones but was far too long. There was so much going on...enough for 2 books. The narrator did a good job.

Good story but the narration was awful
Good story that had a surprising ending. I would listen to the second book but the narration was terrible. What is it with audible to put narration through a robotic process - has to be AI generated, surely. The over enunciation and weird separation of words is irritating and took away from a really good story.
