About this listen
Critic Reviews
Dust and Glory is gripping from beginning to end, taking the reader on a descriptive, exciting journey around Australia….in the mid 1950s. Love the characters, and how some of them, such as Gelignite Jack Murray and Jack Davey were real-life big names. This book has me wanting to pack up and hit the road.
Narrator Humphrey Bower is my favourite, he is simply brilliant at bringing a book to life. I only came across this book because I googled books narrated by Bower. Anything he reads seems to have a pulse of of it’s own and magnifies the story to its best capabilities - the reader feels the emotions of the characters.
Bower brings justice to another masterpiece

Would you consider the audio edition of Dust and Glory to be better than the print version?
I read the audio version 30 years ago, so I would have to say no. It took me 30 years to remember the name after lots of google searching the race. What other book might you compare Dust and Glory to, and why?
NAHave you listened to any of Humphrey Bower’s other performances? How does this one compare?
NAWas there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Loved the whole thing.Any additional comments?
This was a favorite book of mine for over 30 years, I am so glad I found it and anyone who is interested in Australia in the 50s should read it, or people from other countries who want to know what Australia was like back then. My dad remembered when the redex trial went through Tallimba NSW, so it had a special memory for me.A forgotten treasure
