In the distant highlands, a puma named Dusk is killing shepherds. Down in the lowlands, twins Iris and Floyd are out of work, money and friends. When they hear that a bounty has been placed on Dusk, they reluctantly decide to join the hunt. As they journey up into this wild, haunted country, they discover there's far more to the land and people of the highlands than they imagined. And as they close in on their prey, they're forced to reckon with conflicts both ancient and deeply personal.

Critic Reviews

'Magnificent' Tim Winton

'Dusk is a sublime novel of loss and redemption, fight and surrender, that left me in absolute awe. Robbie Arnott's prose is incandescent, his storytelling mythic and filled with a wisdom that extends beyond the page. With Dusk, he asserts himself as one of Australia's finest literary writers.' Loved the story, hated the reading! Seems it may have been recorded in a rush? I could hear every breath taken and page turns. Needs a good edit.

Another fantastical adventure from Arnott

Another beautiful story from Arnott, moving, compelling and vividly descriptive. I hated the reading though, the breaths are very loud and occur in weird places. needs a good audio edit.

A beautiful adventure

This is a griitty story of a stoic brother/sister bond, that withstood a brutal childhood, eeked a meagre existance in the harsh Australian bush. Beautifully depicted Highland country landscapes form an integral part a quest to capture a ferocious panther that had been imported to cull the growing deer poulation.

Good Aussie read

Another great story from this terrific writer, transporting the reader to higher places - as he usually does, with ease and eloquence.
