Publisher's Summary

Same team, new place, new adventures.

In a forest wilderness, a dungeon reappears after surviving a nation ending war. The magical shock has devastated both the dungeon and its occupants, in more ways than one. Doc find himself alone in this new place, surrounded with unknown dangers. Claire, Doc's partner and guide, finds herself at facing the nightmares she wrought using Doc, having freed herself from her mother's control. The pressure mounts on both as the damage is made clear.

Even then, the wilderness surrounding them is filled with all manner of danger and traps, everything ruled by the law of the strong. How can a wounded family face such a threat as what has been disturbed? And will they be ready to defend the dungeon core from those who covet its power?

The best-selling series that started it all brings to you a new series where it's all dungeon, all day.

bait and switch?

this is a dungeon core novel with some philosophy 101 course material shoved down your throat. what absolute garbage. just pretend that last series never happened, because all the stuff that made the books fun is gone. strategic dungeon stuff? nope. neato slime evolutions? ha. weird af acid induced dream sequences that last way to long? in spades.

Not loving the new narrator

Great book, love the story but the narrator is not as good as the old one. Beyond all the characters having new voices it is sometimes difficult to tell the difference between Doc and Rowan.

Really Disapointed

After the series sucked me in, with enjoyable story telling, this thing came along. I was truly unhappy with this Repetitive blah blah blah non story.... You can only take an authors or characters philosophy, failures, angst, etc.... so far. This tried to cross the galaxy. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Less than a quarter of this book is worth the time. The story could have been told in that amount and been a novella, for a shorty story volume..

Heavy breather.

I’m not even an hour into the book and the thing that is throwing me off is the constant intake of breath by the narrator. So heavy.

Nice ideas but poor writing

The writing was jarring and many times the book made little sense. The characters are all from a previous series and this book could only be recommended if you want a cannon continuation of the characters from the primary author. The book starts like an anthology then settles In with the main group of characters with a few of those jarring cuts to confusing philosophical rants that seam to have been inserted with no context. This is the only audio book that I have ever wanted to be over faster so that I could be done with it. Narration was great but story was not.

the characters change too much between series

I didn't enjoy the characters from the previous series being used in such a different way. it seemed like the author became super interested active in between series and wanted to make every character into an emo version of themselves. the new narrator did not help, as the different style of voice created a much darker atmosphere. and also seemed like the author created some very large retcons to allow for an entirely different structure of magic. such a large retcon made me wonder why the author didn't just create a new series. instead he seemed to "yada yada" himself through some very large changes to the basic structure of the magic inside of the dungeon. unfortunately I'm not very interested in continuing the series, but I hope that the author finds new readers that will enjoy this type of story.

absolutely amazing.

another unique installment in this ever growing genre of dungeon core books. I am happy to say i am a huge fan of this authors work as the ideas in these books especially this new one are so new and simple that people bipass them. the narrator change was a akward change in the start but I soon got over it as i was engrossed in the story and can say i am already dreading the time to wait for the next book.

Good but too lengthy with philosophy

It was a nice story, it is nice to see the slimes evolving like this. But the drama and philosophy was a bit too lengthy. And while I find the narrator good at making female voices, he is a bit lengthy when talking.

The Author Lost His Way.

All I can say is I loved the original series but this was trash there was some cool parts reminiscent of the old story. I hate philosophy normally but this was barely even philosophy it was nonsense. And the narrator needs to learn how to breath off the mic and learn that not every line in the book needs to sound dark and depressing. I do not recommend this book it is not worth a read even if you love the old series this isn’t even a shadow of that.

Higher quality than the rest of the series

The downgrade in the scale of the plot easily allows the author to zoom in on the characters, which were sorely in need. While these characters have existed for three or four books now, they've always been very weak. Now, I feel like I understand them, and that they have depth and have earned their development.

A massive drop in quality

Painful to listen to because of the writing. Badly needed to be edited and reviewed before it was turned into a audio book. The story is mostly depresive filler and only few small parts of interesting story.
