better than the first narrator
narrators: voices are good but the accents are attrocious. Would likely appeal to someone who has never left America or been exposed to an English, Irish, Scottish or even Australian accent. seriously though, why would an irish person almost sound the american interpretation of an Australian accent??? storyline - it's dark, messed up but enjoyable. it gets a bit jarring that American words are used by irish people. e.g trash cans, side walks etc. would've hoped the author had done a little more research.

Ready for the 5th
This 4th installment in the Fever series overall was great. I loved Phil G. as Barrons and the other male voices, I had a tougher time with Natalie R and wish they would've used Joyce B with him instead as she is "Mac" to me and I loved her accent. Overall I don't think this book was quite as good as the others. I loved the first three quarters but found the last quarter to drag some and found my mind wandering some and wondering what the point was. The cliff hanger like usual is a little irritating. It still would have been as good if she had told us who it was (don't want to spoil if you haven't read). This overall is probably my favorite series I've ever read, even more then the Sookie books which are hard to beat. I'll have to relisten again before the 5th and final book comes out!

Writing still good, narrators MUCH better
I enjoyed the first three books on audiobook, but I will admit I was annoyed by the narrator. Mack was portrayed as just a little too whiny for me to love the audio book. But the writing was excellent, the plot twists were nice, the characters, intriguing. In the latest edition of Moning's Fever series, someone made the decision not only to change the female narrator, but to add a male narrator for the male voices. I was delightedly surprised. Suddenly, the characters took on new life. They were simply spell binding. While all of the books are good, this one stands out in my mind and I have to think at least part of that was the excellent narration. Bravo to Ms. Ross and Mr. Gigante and of course, bravo to Ms. Moning. Thank you for enjoyable "read."

Awful Sound Quality
While I will get over my disappointment that Joyce Bean isn't the voice of this book in the series, the audio quality is simply awful.
I've listened to each book in succession (on the same equipment) with little break between books, and the sound quality on this recording is not even close to that of books 1-3.
How disappointing overall, and especially given this is an AUDIO book site.

LOVE THIS SERIES
I love this series so much I am sorry the next book will be the last. While Natalie Ross is a good narrator I hate the fact that they changed the narrator in the middle of the series, Joyce Bean was excellent she was MAC. I truly enjoyed her energy and her wonderful southern accent. Why didn't they have her and Phil G. together that would have been great. Ms. Ross had no southern accent and mispronounced the name Rowena repeatedly (about 200 times). When inconsistencies like this occur I wonder whether the audiobook producer listened to the previous books. I dislike Narrator changes in the middle of series but regardless I absolutely love these stories. I would just like to see it redone with Joyce Bean.

Awesome Audio but plot&ending are frustrating
The audiobook was off-the-charts excellent! The 2 new narrators are amazing. They each give very distinct voices to all the characters (so you can always tell who is talking), full of emotion & truly bring them to life. It's like a live performance privately done for you. Unlike the prior female narrator, the men are now virile & sexy, & Mac now actually speaks at a believable pace (not so slow it annoys you) & with a real sounding southern accent not some overdone "thang" from a highschool play. The terrifying chainsaw voice for the Dark Book will scare you to your core! The interplay of the characters & timing of the actors is intense.
BTW, some reviewers on here have wrongfully critiqued the new female reader for mispronouncing Rowena's name or pronouncing it two different ways in the audio. The author specifically directed her in the pronunciations of "Rowena" & Ms. Ross says it right! The reason it varies at times is because the character Mac does mispronounce it at times, it's part of the plot.
As for the plot, (I'll try to write this generally without any plot spoilers, but it'll be harder to explain) I must be honest & say that I was frustrated & a lil disappointed with this book. I have to agree with others who have said this series should have been at most a 3 or 4 book series for solid content. There was little plot development this time. Unlike past books, this one is such an excerpt that you probably cannot just pick it up & read it as a stand alone without having read the others. You'd be totally lost. Frankly, even if you read the others, this one is so fantastical & jumps about, it's still a bit confusing. While I have been totally enjoying & loving the Fever series...after waiting so long for this book & knowing it'll be a year or more till the next, this book wasn't worth the wait.

a little odd
While I am a huge Karen Marie Moning fan, her fever series is a bit odd. I don't mind that so much, but she is dragging it out so long that I have since lost interest. By the time you get to this book, your ready for it to be over, but wait, there's more. Really? Can't we just move on to another series already? While loosely connected to her Highlander series, this is far removed as it gets from those books. If your really into fantasy romance than you will probably like this series.
PS. love Phil Gigante.......he is to ears, what porn is to eyes.

Phil Gigante. Wow.
What did you like best about Dreamfever? What did you like least?
Best: Phil Gigante. Least: Bad Irish accents.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I'm not going to waste my time with a detailed review of Dreamfever. People who love this series will probably love this book too. My issues with Karen Marie Moning's writing can be found in my previous review of Darkfever.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I have two points about the narration. First, Natalie Ross has one of the worst Irish accents I have ever heard. It sounds more Cockney (and a bad Cockney accent at that) than Irish. I cringed every time I heard her Irish accent. Every. Single. Time. Her take at Mac's accent was fine--less pronounced than the prior narrator in the series, but it was inoffensive. Phil Gigante though...WHOA. He could narrate a tax return and I'd pay to listen. Aural sex. Wow. Just wow.
Was Dreamfever worth the listening time?
If only for Phil Gigante's brief appearances.
Any additional comments?
I preferred Joyce Bean to Natalie Ross, but the addition of Phil Gigante makes up for just about everything else that bothered me about this book.
