Story
A nation cannot be civil without civility. To some, civility cannot be restored until power is regained. A Civil War was a necessary evil, but make no mistake, it was evil. What do we, as human beings, owe to one another? And, what does it mean to be civilized when civilization is collapsing all around you? Author Bobby Akart once again masterfully tells a tale of a nation on the edge of societal collapse. For decades, Americans had found themselves increasingly at odds with one another - politically, socially, and culturally.

Publisher's Summary
America faces a battle upon which the blood of tyrants and patriots will be shed.
Doomsday had swept the country.
Best-selling author Bobby Akart once again masterfully tells a tale of a nation on the edge of societal collapse. For decades, Americans had found themselves increasingly at odds with one another - politically, socially, and culturally.
In Doomsday Minutemen, the Doomsday series concludes as the conspiracy reveals itself, and those responsible for leading the nation to the brink of a civil war are exposed.
Will a new, unexpected leader emerge to bring the country together, or at least to stop escalations of tensions between the two sides? Will America collapse from within before it's too late?
The Second Civil War will not pit Americans against one another over territory. It will be a fight for the heart and soul of our nation in which everybody will lose.
About the Doomsday Series
With political rancor at an all-time high, the war of words escalates, and a political war erupts. Americans are caught in the crosshairs of societal unrest and a mysterious society sworn to protect the Constitution against those who threaten it, at all cost.
America has become embroiled in something more than a clash of ideologies. She is now facing a battle in which the blood of tyrants and patriots will be shed. This is a story about a nation divided and what that portends for the future.

Yes, very good ....
NO quibbling with the fine reviews that readers have given this series. BUT quibbling about the shortish duration of each book and the interminable rehash of "the story so far" from all preceding books, that starts each book except the first. These quibbles do NOT disqualify this series, but they are quite annoying. I could easily hesitate starting another book series by Akart because of these "features."

Amazing
I have never liked political books of any kind. However with this story line and the amount of research and the skill of Mr Akart put into this series I have been unable to put it down. It makes you wonder and think about what goes on behind the scenes of our government. I look forward to reading more.

Author is out of touch with people and humanity
I've purchased at least 9 of this author's stories and have enjoyed them all, and rated them, very highly. This is the first one in which he stretched the suspension of disbelief to the point of incredulity. And it wasn't the story itself, or the concept or their believability that destroyed my overall enjoyment of this particular book. It was the characters and their personalities. It's clear that the author does not have children or, if he does, then he cannot create fictional representations of people that do. (SPOILER_____________)
No father that raised his own children for any length of time would let anyone talk him into leaving his 15 year old runaway son to 'survive on his own' during the apocalypse. Especially not a former SWAT cop. I can accept that a childless 60 something year old woman would argue this, but only due to a lack of some basic maternal instinct present in most people that have a single shred of morality. This glaring inconsistency with a growing number of smaller hollywood-like stereotypes across the board, was the proverbial straw the broke the camel's back. I've excused this author's tripe in the past, for the sake of the story but this just moved it into the 'not worth my time' category. Additionally, a note on the performance, the voice actor should take a couple minutes and learn how to pronounce words or phrases he is unfamiliar with. After a while it becomes not just annoying, but pathetic.

Too much useless explaining
I made it through a few of these books but this one Sucks. The Blair lady Hates kids and tells delta how to handle his. I guarantee that if one of her stupid dogs was lost she would put everyone there in danger to go look for it. Then they discuss murdering two men that are half drowning just because they are near there property, then say they are prisoners???? WTF??? I'm a die hard conservative that supports Trump and loves guns and reads post-apocalypse fiction all the time but these guys are f'ing crazy!!

Great Series!!!!!
I have been reading/listening survival thrillers for several years and have to say, Bobby Akart is one of my absolute FAVORITE authors in this area. I have purchased nearly his entire collection in paperback or Audible form. I have not only enjoyed each series, I have learned from each series. If you are reading these genre of literature, you may be reading them for entertainment, as well as research. These series, while entertaining are also full of useful information and historical facts. I highly recommend ALL of Bobby Akart's works! You will not regret your purchase.
