Publisher's Summary

"The 22nd installment in the Andy Carpenter series is just as delightful and entertaining as the first, thanks in large part to Grover Gardner's narration." (AudioFile Magazine)

Lawyer Andy Carpenter and his golden retriever, Tara, work to free a man who risked it all to help a dog in need

Lawyer Andy Carpenter and his wife, Laurie, enjoy walking their dogs, Tara and Sebastian. By this point in their marriage, it’s routine. When out for one of their strolls, their simple ritual isn’t so simple anymore. Across the street, a man is mistreating his dog. Three things happen at once: Andy yells, Laurie runs to stop the abuse, and so does a closer passerby, who so thoroughly beats the owner that both are arrested when the cops arrive.

Andy scoops up the dog and takes him to the Tara Foundation, the dog rescue organization that’s always been his true passion. Meanwhile, at the police station, the passerby is identified as Matthew Jantzen, and he’s wanted for murder. Andy and Laurie are struck by the fact that Jantzen, a man on the run, would nevertheless intervene to help a dog, and decide to find out more.

Dog Eat Dog, the 22nd installment in the Andy Carpenter series, features the charming cast of characters - old and new - that David Rosenfelt is known for and the dogs that accompany them.

Awesome

As always, loved the story and the performance! I think I could listen to Grover Gardner read the dictionary! I enjoyed the change of venue while missing some of the usual characters. Need to get a lobster roll for lunch tomorrow. My only complaint is that I wanted it to be longer. Fastest 6+ hours ever. Looking forward to the next in the series.

One of the best in breed

I’d pretty much sworn off reading any more Andy Carpenter novels. I found them increasingly boring, repetitive and far-fetched. A good friend recommended this book — and boy I’m glad I read it! There is the same cast of characters of course; Andy is Andy; Marcus is Marcus — and then there are dogs, of course. But the plot kept me engaged and guessing right up to the end. This is one of the best Andy Carpenter books I’ve ever read. And it’s read by the incomparable Grover Gardner. What’s not to like? Grab this book by the tail; you won’t be sorry.

Fun series

Love this series. Snarky lawyer, convoluted plot, lots of dogs. Now including a pug. The narrator is just right for the books.

Always Great Visiting Old Friends 💜

There are so very few book series that I have fallen in love with the characters, so easily, as the Andy Carpenter series. The cast of characters feel like old friends. Starting each book for me, is like an overdue visit with a great friend. Exciting & comfortable, all at the same time. I've said it before, & I'll say it again... David Rosenfelt & Grover Gardner are the perfect pairing. Grover Gardner takes the series from a great read, to an unforgettable EXPERIENCE. I'm already impatiently awaiting the next "visit"/book!
