About this listen

Hi, my name is Fisher, and I'm hooked on my dad's rival.

I've been in love with Hudson Nash for years, but he's too stubborn to admit he wants me, too. For a whole bunch of stupid reasons.

Like the fact that I'm too young. (What's a twenty-year gap? Age is just a number, am I right?) And a virgin. (Which he could easily fix!) And maybe not the best choice, given he and my dad hate each other. (It's not that ba—Okay, it is that bad, but our love could totally rise above, right? It would be epic!)

I see the way he watches me like a starving man. The heat in his eyes when I flirt with him. The longing that he feels, too.

If Hudson won't stop pushing me away, I'm just going to have to show him what he's missing. I'll flirt with the pretty boy tourists who come my way. Or maybe the gruff but sexy boat tour operators. Heck, I'll flirt with the dang fish if that's what it takes for Hudson to make a move.

I'll be a total dock tease—until Hudson makes me his. Because I'm not a tease at all. Not for the right man.

Hudson Nash knows he’s not marriage-material, his angry ex-wife let’s him know every time she rings to harangue him. 41 yo Hudson has returned to Swallow Cove to run his bay cruise business, which has also put him off-side with some of the locals. 21yo Fisher knows his dad hates Hudson but Fisher has always been smitten with him, if only Hudson would take him seriously. Fisher’s dad doesn’t take him seriously either and Fisher wonders why he bothered doing a business degree, because his dad shoots down any suggestions for improving their bate-and-tackle business. Despite misgivings, Hudson agrees to show Fisher the sexual ropes in a no-strings-attached arraignments, but it’s soon pretty clear there are plenty of strings.

This first in the Swallow Cove series taps the age-gap, small-town and virgin / sex-ed tropes. It’s a town full of quirky, spirited people, but the author didn’t need to underline this by using sexual-innuendo names for many of the shops and landmarks—it just felt juvenile and tiresome, especially during the town meeting. I was a little frustrated by Hudson’s lack of self-esteem over this failed marriage at first, but when I saw how his ex-wife continually treated him, I could understand his reluctance to ever risk another relationship in the future. The chemistry between Hudson and Fisher was hot but I also really liked their mutual supportiveness. So, on the whole, I liked this and I’d seek out further books if the author phased out the sexual innuendos. 🎧 Two of my favourite voice actors, Alexander Cendese (as Hudson) and Iggy Toma (as Fisher) were both excellent and their voices totally suited their characters—great work as usual!

Sweet & sexy but way too many sexual innuendos!
