Summary

Dirus

Thought extinct during the last ice age, a predator has continued to thrive in the shadow of man and has remained undiscovered in the isolated forests of central Canada. In a quest for a new and distant territory, a young pack of carnivores settles in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. With a busy summer tourist season underway, Sam, a resident bear biologist, is thrown into a tangle of puzzling deaths and disappearances. These intelligent creatures stay one step ahead of Sam and her team as they hunt the native wildlife and unsuspecting visitors that stumble upon the territorial and ravenous pack.

L.J. Vitanza originally published Dirus in a serialized format on Amazon’s Kindle Vella.

Narration was too rushed, which destroyed any sense of suspense.
The accents were laughably bad and the narrator had a speech impediment that really irritated me. (Sorry)
I’m of a mind that if I am paying for an audible experience then the producers should at least attempt to find talent that can pronounce “escape” correctly. (Not “ex-cape”)
Good narration can really make an average story better IMHO.

So in saying this .. the story wasn’t great either.. with weirdly placed sexual tensions & teenage angst. And some big plot holes. At more than one stage I found myself genuinely rooting for the wolves because the characters were so
Unlikeable.
2 stars for the poor wolves story only.

Very Average

Enjoyable enough. It's hardly a Pulitzer prized winner, but it's not meant to be.
If you like these sorts of stories, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.
I did appreciate the realistic ending.

It's exactly what you expect it to be
