Als ihr Mann jedoch bei einem Überfall stirbt, nimmt Magdalena ein stummes Mädchen in ihre Obhut, das als Hexe gebrandmarkt in Gefahr geraten ist, ohne zu ahnen, dass ihr diese Begegnung zum Verhängnis zu werden droht. Zwischen Liebe und Freundschaft, Krieg und Tod geht Magdalena mutig ihren Weg, auf dem sie nicht nur Freunde, sondern auch Feinde findet. Feinde, die vor keinem Mittel zurückschrecken, Magdalena aus dem Weg zu räumen …
