Sein Hund lag vor dem Haustor und rührte sich nicht. Die Zunge hing weit aus dem Rachen. Die Augen waren gebrochen. Blut troff aus der Schnauze. Benommen starrte er auf das Tier. Da ließ ihn ein Geräusch hochzucken. Ein düsterer Schatten füllte die Haustornische. Und aus diesem Schatten trat dem entsetzten Mann nun eine furchteinflößende Gestalt entgegen. Es war ein Henker.
