Trotzdem sollten noch viele Jahre vergehen, ehe Canettis Werk auch international gewürdigt wurde. 1981 erhielt der Autor den Literaturnobelpreis für sein schriftstellerisches Werk - mit großem Einfühlungsvermögen gelesen von Matthias Ponnier.
