Ein bestialisch zu Tode gefolterter Mann, soll von Holmes in Augenschein genommen werden. Schnell wird klar, dass es eine Verbindung zwischen Buch und Opfer geben muss und dass der Mörder keine Hemmungen hat, weitere Morde zu begehen.
