Opposites attract. The outlaw biker and the accountant. Straightlaced vs straight to hell. Or heaven, depending on how you look at it.
And you can look at it any way you like, doesn't mean it's true. Either way, falling for snarky Alexei Ivanov is the lightbulb moment I've been waiting for my whole damn life. Or at least since my head got turned by someone else. A man I call brother, but he's so much more than that.
I've loved Saint Malone for years. My loyal wingman has owned my heart so long I figured it had died of yearning for him. But Saint is as fragile as he is deadly. I don't know how to help him until Alexei brings me to life in ways I can't describe.
He opens my eyes, and I see them both.
I love them both.
With the weight of the underworld bearing down on me, I just gotta stay alive long enough to tell them.
Contains mature themes.

I did play it at a slightly slower speed than the default rate which allowed me get into the book and enjoy the many different characters.
Each are very distinguishable as you listen through and I’ve read the following books at the normal speed now that I’m used to the accents.
Really enjoyed the story line and how the main characters interact with each other.

Audio Review
Great start to the series
I wasn't sure about the narrator for the first few chapters but once I got into the book I can't think of anyone else who could do it justice. He has a voice for every single character that is distinctive so you know who is talking at all times. My only niggle is that he talks quite fast and for the first time ever I slowed the speed on the audio (I've previously sped it up but never slowed it down)
The book flew through and I was entertained the whole way. The brotherhood portrayed felt real and not a characterised version of what a motor cycle club should be.

I’ve enjoyed Garrett Leigh’s angsty books many times but this didn’t hit the mark for me. They say write what you know and I’m guessing Garrett Leigh doesn’t know many bikers or Russian hitmen. While the steamy action story was gripping at times, the overly romantic, instalove characters with hearts of gold felt inauthentic, especially towards the end of the book when it all turned flowery and schmaltzy. There was a scene where Cam explains his three-way relationship to other supportive high-ranking bike club members that would NEVER happen between men, let alone bikers, in real life. See KA Merikan for more believably dangerous men. The instalove romance was also unsatisfyingly unbelievable: why would Alexei, a hardened killer, go to such great lengths to protect a man he’s just met and hardly knew? Was the sex alone that good? 🎧 UK voice actor Dan Calley tackles Irish and Russian accents here to varying degrees of success. It jarred at first but I adjusted because he’s so good at projecting the action and emotions.
Gripping plot but inauthentic characters!
