“Love at first sight” is a laughable concept in the considered opinion of Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam and never occurs in real life—certainly not in the life of an experienced soldier. Quite a revelation. I liked this portrayal of the Colonel and the development of his relationship with Jane. ODC take a backseat but their story is still delightful. I enjoyed the unique narration.
