Træet stod, som om det vogtede over haven. Det var sort og dødt at se på.Med lidt fantasi kunne dets grene godt ligne arme. Der var huller i barken. De så ud som øjne. Når man gik forbi, var det, som om det så på en.
I haven faran fru Holms hus står der et gammelt æbletræ. Eller står og står... Faktisk er det, som om det flytter sig lidt for hver dag.
