The first book in C.J.Cherryh's eponymous series, Foreigner begins an epic tale of the survivors of a lost spacecraft who crash-land on a planet inhabited by a hostile, sentient alien race. From its beginnings as a human-alien story of first contact, the Foreigner series has become a true science fiction odyssey, following a civilization from the age of steam through early space flight to confrontations with other alien species in distant sectors of space. A wonderfully engaging series
Where does Destroyer rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
As a stand alone book it is good but as part of the series it is great.
What about Daniel May’s performance did you like?
Daniel's performance is among the best I have experienced. I will look for other books where his talent can be enjoyed.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I had the time I would enjoy doing so.
Any additional comments?
This is the 7th book in the series and I have just finished the 8th and am about to start the 9th. I am very much engaged in the series.

Great series, but my least favorite book so far
STORY (sci-fi) - I've already written several reviews for this series so I'll be short here. This is a wonderful, unique series, and I'm going to hear every single book. That said, this one was a little slower. The main character (Bren) is human and lives among the alien Atevi race. Bren is a translator/negotiator for the Atevi. If you start from the beginning of the series (which you have to do or you'll be totally lost), Bren has been through everything imaginable as far as problems he's negotiated. His last two years were spent in the Atevi's first spaceship as it was on a rescue mission. In this book they return to the home planet to find mass political upheaval and possible war among the Atevi, which further affects human-Atevi relations. Bren and the other main characters try to avert war and restore the overthrown government to power, but I suspect this endeavor will span through the next couple books. Further, they fear the Gyo, which is an alien race they encountered while on their rescue mission, may come to the home planet. Not knowing the Gyo's intentions, Bren strives to bring peace to his world so they may present a united front to the Gyo when they appear.
PERFORMANCE - I love Daniel May's performance, although he gets quite a bit of criticism from others. There are lots of characters in this series, and he manages to give most of them voices which are easily distinguishable. Thanks for that, Daniel!
OVERALL - I highly recommend this series, but it is quite long so consider the time investment. You must start from the beginning, as there are many characters you should "meet" from the beginning and you will need to learn the Atevi language as it is unfolded. No sex or cursing in this series, just tons of complex problems for Bren to negotiate! Even though this book wasn't a favorite, I anxiously look forward to the next as this series does not disappoint.

great 3rd series of books
This is the 3rd group of books and if you have gotten this far you will probably be continuing to the end of these books. As I have said in all of these reviews this is a review of the 3 books in the sequence since they all are really 1 book.
This is something you could have figured out was going to happen if you read the last set of books, they go to meet aliens that might or might not be hostile as they did probably attack the space station there then upon returning to the planet you are wondering what has happened and it plays out pretty nicely as things start getting taken back under control but there are all sorts of things going wrong.
These stories are great and they all take place in the same world but all the sequences are different sets of stories and you get the sense that they all could go on for different generations of the characters in there, I hope future books will do this.
