Story
Park ranger Kyler Clemons had loved the vibe and the beach of Mustang Island. Getting caught with her boss’ wife, however, got her transferred to the wild and remote Davis Mountains State Park - in the middle of nowhere. Now after four years, she’s forgotten about the beach and has embraced the mountain life, feeling like a local. She hangs out at the Cottonwood Creek Bar and Grill. She watches football with Mark Walton. She’s taken up birdwatching and stargazing. She is perfectly content. No stress. No drama. And no desire to date. Then Lexie Walton waltzes into her life.

Story
Things are looking up for Detective Sanne Jensen and Dr. Meg Fielding. Dating each other seems to be working, their families are behaving themselves, and the worst of the post-Christmas crime wave is over. The discovery of a Pakistani girl's body out on the moors changes all that. No one knows who she is, who hurt her, or how she came to be there. As pressure mounts on East Derbyshire Special Ops for a quick resolution, it becomes ever more apparent that the case won't provide one.

Great Story With Perfect Narration!
A great story of love and survival, beautifully narrated by Nicola Victoria Vincent. Cari Hunter's writing is both tender and exciting and Nicola Victoria Vincent brings to life both the harsh environment and the array of characters, all of whom are so well defined. She is lovely to listen to and the characters are a real treat. I am happy to see that both narrator and author are doing more books together as they make a great team and long may that continue! My only slight criticism is a technical one: There is not enough space at the end of chapters before the next chapter heading but obviously this must be down to whoever produced it. The last line of each chapter is meaningful and the impact of that is significantly diminished if it rushes into the next chapter. That aside, I highly recommend this book and cant wait to listen to more. Fantastic!

Intense, but Bearable... Series... Please?
I stutter stepped in the beginning. I don't handle violation well. This thriller, thankfully, spared me from that. Instead, this is an excellently written and narrated story of two strong women strengthened further by their individual pasts, intertwined present, and future filled with hope for brightness and light.

Excellent!
I love Cari Hunter books. I haven't listened to one that I didn't love. This one (and the next in the series) is different than her other books because it takes place in the US. It's an exciting book about two women that go way past what they thought they could handle to survive. Lots of action with a romance underneath. While I might reluctantly agree that Nicola Victoria Vincent isn't the best at American accents and occasionally says some words differently than Americans do, I still love her narration and won't say anything bad about her.

The focusing on the story and not on sex was good but when there was sex it was refreshingly not too detailed.
The narrator was good with the American accents but not with the British.

WOW! What a great listen. You will not stop once you start. Excellent story. Excellent narration. Some people will find the violence against women hard to take. But it is necessary to the plot and does not detract from the quality of the story.

Usually love the narration
Sorry to say the narration was lacking. The USA English accents were just odd at best. It was difficult to tell who was “talking” and it was a poor imitation of a Southeast US accent, but the story was in California. The story wasn’t bad.

A True Psychological love Story.
This is the first book in a two part series featuring Sarah and Alex. Sarah came to walk on desolation point to escape troubles in England and got far more than what she bargained for. Fighting for her life after being chased by a right-wing group and meeting up with Alex. could they survive?
The best part was where Alex and Sarah were going through the alphabet.
I you do like Nicola Victoria Vincent's narration but for some strange reason she is talking in an American accent which are found in some parts confusing I will certainly listen to her again as she's got such clear addiction and I haven't have found any problems with her other books I've had in the past.
You. can listen to each book as a stand-alone but in my opinion I would listen to them in the. way they were intended, Desolation Point then Tumbledown.
Another great thing is if you have already got this book on Kindle you can get the audible copy at a reduced rate. You you can also read and listen to the book at the same time.
I will certainly be listened to this book again.

Yet another variation of this author’s main theme: two women, one a policewoman, fight for their lives out in the wilderness, being hunted by nasty villains, and in the process find to each other. Add to this a dash of medical slang and vivid descriptions of horrific injuries.
