Rosalie hat den kranken Soldaten Francoeur gepflegt und ihn gegen den Willen ihrer Mutter geheiratet. Daraufhin hat ihre Mutter ihn verflucht. Nach der Geburt ihres gemeinsamen Kindes geht der Fluch als schreckliches Benehmen auf Francoeur über.
