Goldenes Sonnenlicht fiel durch die Scheiben direkt auf den Glassarg, in dem ein Mädchen schlief. Schwarzes glattes Haar lag ihr über die schmalen Schultern und reichte bis zu ihren Brüsten. Es glänzte seidig, als wäre es gerade erst gebürstet worden. Lange dunkle Wimpern umrahmten ihre geschlossenen Augen. Sie trug ein blütenreines weißes Kleid aus zarter Spitze. Wie sie dort lag, wirkte sie vollkommen friedlich, so als könne sie keiner Menschenseele etwas zuleide tun.
Es herrschte eine andächtige Stille, die von Rumpelstein zerbrochen wurde.
"Töte sie, Wilhelm", forderte er mit kalter Härte. "Bohre ihr einen Pflock ins Herz. Nur so können wir sicher sein, dass sie wirklich tot ist."
