In der Mitte ein kleiner Marktplatz mit einem Brunnen, an der Seite ein kleines altes Rathaus, umher auf dem Markt das Haus des Friedensrichters und der angesehensten Kaufleute, und in ein paar engen Straßen wohnen die übrigen Menschen. Alles kennt sich, jedermann weiß, wie es da und dort zugeht, und wenn der Oberpfarrer oder der Bürgermeister oder der Arzt ein Gericht mehr auf der Tafel hat, so weiß es schon am Mittagessen die ganze Stadt.
