Summary
Ums Kämpfen ging es bei Heinrich von Kleist immer wieder. Er kämpfte am Rhein gegen Frankreich, er kämpfte um literarische Anerkennung und schließlich mit dem Leben - und verlor, als er sich 1811 mit gerade mal 34 Jahren am Kleinen Wannsee das Leben nahm.
Auch seine Kriminalnovelle Der Zweikampf wird von diesem Motiv bestimmt: Ende des 14. Jahrhunderts wird ein Herzog hinterrücks ermordet. Indizien und Gegenindizien werden gesammelt - und plötzlich gerät eine bisher unbescholtene Frau in Verdacht. Ein Duell soll schließlich über Schuld und Unschuld entscheiden.
