Daraufhin ergreift der Vater Basilius eine Vorsichtsmaßnahme, hier kein Aussetzen in einer anderen Gegend, sondern er sperrt ihn ein und produziert so aus Angst vor der Zukunft die Vorhersage; die Prophezeiung wurde selbst erfüllt, wie die vom König gewünschte Bewährungsprobe zeigte.
Betäubt aus dem Turm, hingesetzt in den edelsten Prunk und erwachend aus einem Traum, sitzt Sigismund auf den Thron und soll zeigen wer er ist. Das tut er: Er missachtet seinen Vater, nimmt sich die Macht und erfüllt so das Orakel.
