Wegen seines Alkoholismus landet er schließlich in einer psychiatrischen Anstalt, aus der es kein Entkommen mehr gibt. Er muss erkennen, dass der Alkohol seine Persönlichkeit nicht so sehr verändert, als vielmehr in ihrer Erbärmlichkeit bloßgelegt hat.
