Die Erzählung "Der Kondor" (eigentlich "Der Condor") ist in vier Kapitel aufgeteilt: Nachtstück, Tagstück, Blumenstück und Fruchtstück und handelt von der Beziehung des Malers Gustav und seiner Zeichenschülerin Cornelia. In einer Mondnacht wartet Gustav am Fenster auf den Flug des Luftschiffes "Condor", mit dem Cornelia verreist. Erst im Morgengrauen erhebt sich der "Condor". Einige Wochen später ist Cornelia wieder zurück und nimmt wieder Unterricht bei Gustav. Die beiden gestehen sich ihre Liebe. Doch Gustav "entflieht" seinen Gefühlen durch eine vorzeitig angetretene Reise. Schließlich werden seine Werke einige Jahre später in Paris in seiner Abwesenheit ausgestellt. Eine von allen bewunderte Dame kann sich von den Gemälden nicht trennen. Ist es Cornelia?
Bei "Der Condor" handelt es sich im die erste, im Jahr 1840 veröffentlichte, Erzählung Adalbert Stifters (1805-1868). Günter Sauer (1919-1990) war Schauspieler und Synchronsprecher sowie Hörspiel- und Dialogregisseur.
