Unterwegs landet er auf sechs weiteren Planeten, auf denen er auf sonderbare Typen trifft, Spiegelbilder der Erwachsenen, denen er auf der Erde begegnen wird. Die Sehnsucht nach der verlassenen Rose treibt ihn zur Rückkehr. Zuvor aber hat ihm der Fuchs ein wichtiges Geheimnis anvertraut: "Man sieht nur mit dem Herzen gut. Das Wesentliche ist für die Augen unsichtbar".
Die "drehbühne berlin" produzierte 2004 eine Bühnenversion des Kleinen Prinzen. In über 160 Vorstellungen sahen bereits weit über 30.000 Zuschauer die Inszenierung in Deutschland und in der Schweiz. Die drehbühne berlin adaptierte die Theaterproduktion als Hörspielfassung. Die Inszenierung orientiert sich eng an der Vorlage des Autors, verzichtet aber keinesfalls auf eigene Akzente.
