Ohne Klerus wäre die Menschheit nicht lebensfähig. Freiheit, so der alternde Mann, sei nicht in der Natur des Menschen verankert, sie würde nur Chaos verursachen. Menschen brauchen Hirten, denn sie sind wie Schafe und so müssen eben jene Kardinäle und Inquisitoren die schwere Bürde auf sich nehmen, über die Menschen zu richten.
