Die Affäre um den Fluch des Pharao und die drei Leichen im Tal der Könige ist ganz sicher einer der sensationellsten Fälle der Denkmaschine. Schon die Zutaten sind sehr besonders: ein unentdecktes Pharaonengrab, eine uralte Mumie, ein Röntgenapparat, ganz zu schweigen von diversen Grabräubern und Archäologen. Auch wenn van Dusen sich in einem kleinen Punkt irrt (was Mr. Hatch ihm mit Genuss unter die Nase reibt), kann er die Sache mit der üblichen Bravour aufklären. Das allerdings führt zu einer extrem gefährlichen Situation im verschütteten Pharaonengrab, die der Professor mit scharfem Verstand meistert.
