The zombie apocalypse or rather creeper apocalypse series is well written with some great characters.
I love this couple, running across the US, together, they have incredible and often terrifying adventures, navigating the new world.
They build friendships and create new families as they set sail to avoid land which is swarming with the infected.
Highly recommend.
