About this listen
A man is found poisoned by the deadly toxin aconite. A note found at the scene leads Detective Sergeant Jack Mackinnon to a University of Oxford laboratory, where staff and students are desperate to hide their association with the victim.
As Mackinnon gets closer to the truth, he finds his own family could be at risk.
©2019 D. S. Butler (P)2019 W. F. Howes LtdThe story itself was an easy listening and not at all taxing crime story. However do not read if you don't like descriptions of animal cruelty (and that's the vast majority of people) or fast-forward through those bits.
It's odd as I find it hard to listen to a bad narrator, but I didn't mind this quite so much. Maybe because it was a freebie. I'm still not giving him more than two stars though.. it was a shoddy effort.
Desperately needed a pre-read

The longer I listened, the more I grew accustomed to the narrators different style.

Poorly written and poorly read. It felt amateurish

The issue was there in the first book as well, however I persevered with the second, hoping it would improve. Unfortunately it went the opposite way and I stopped the book with 45 mins to go - there was simply no point continuing.
Terrible narrating
