About this listen

A prison doctor injects a condemned serial killer with a formula designed to keep his consciousness awake while his body rots in the grave. But all drugs have unforeseen side-effects. Before he can be buried, the killer wakes up. Hungry. Infected. Contagious. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang… but a bite.

I found the storyline itself quite compelling, but William Dufris's narration did nothing for me. It felt like I was listening to a cheesy, small-time radio presenter, and it was almost enough to stop listening.

I'm a huge fan of the Joe Ledger series and I was excited to see that this had a female lead, but she too became tiresome. Cliché abandonment issues and an abrupt change from a badass, tough as nails chick to a whining mess. I won't be bothering with book two.

A good story - if you can get past the narration
