The Second Week starts out with a bang! As the Texas zombie virus ravages the nation, those left alive are struggling for survival. In this six-book set, civilians in Mississippi deal with the fallout from a decision made a thousand miles away, the people of El Paso fight against an invading force from the south, and the military puts numerous plans in place to start taking the country back from the undead.

Dead America: The Northwest Invasion follows the military as they attempt to gain a foothold in the war against the undead, as well as the civilians caught in the crossfire. Riker makes it to Middletown only to learn his sister has recently witnessed a gruesome death. Insisting she saw the victim rise from a pool of his own blood to attack the Samaritan rendering aid, Tara floats the idea that the man may have been a zombie.

Two teenagers find a frozen corpse in the middle of the woods and decide to bring it back to town. They have no idea they just sparked the zombie apocalypse. In the morgue below the hospital, the dead begin waking up and attacking the living. The infection spreads rapidly, turning the place into a slaughterhouse as those inside fight to survive against the undead.

All Dr. Brianna Lewis wants is a cup of coffee. Coffee to make slaving away in her cell culture lab at Green Fields Biotech a little more bearable on a Friday afternoon when everyone is home already. What she doesn't count on is a group of terrorists blowing up all the entrances to the building and taking her and a select few others hostage. Bree soon finds herself conflicted. Not only does she know their charismatic leader, she also starts to suspect that there is a lot more to this than the hunt for an illegal bioweapon....
