About this listen

In an instant, everything stops. No lights. No phones. No transportation.

When an EMP attack wipes out the nation’s power grid and communications, college freshman Maddie Langston is forced to run for her life.

Stranded in a Chicago airport when the lights go out, Maddie is in a race against time. According to her father, she doesn’t have long before the city descends into chaos. She must leave the airport before it is too late.

The perilous journey out of the city becomes even more complicated when Maddie takes responsibility for an orphaned ten-year-old girl. Together, as chaos fills the streets, they must fight to survive in a Turbulent new world.

Maddie’s brother Zach has his own battles to fight as he struggles to get home to his family.

On the road to reunite with Maddie and Zach, Beth’s trip takes a twisted turn, but she won’t let anything prevent her from reaching her children.

Days of Want is a high-octane, post-apocalyptic, EMP thriller series.

So so

Spoiler alert ahead
Started off intriguing but soon got a bit boring. The issues they came across felt like they weren’t portrayed in depth enough, which in turn made the entire series feel boring eg, the tornado was exciting but they skipped ahead on the recovery which was the part I was looking forward to. The military aspect in the beginning with Aymes and Harding could have made a really good side story but they just left base and that was that.
Just when you thought there was going to be character building, they get killed off or story moves on eg orange haired guy or leader of the cult.
Overall the series was just ok, it was not a story I was itching to listen to when I had free time nor was it a storyline that I thought about throughout the day. Nothing was amazing. The narrator was ok, I felt he didn’t give enough emphasis in dire situations or enough annunciation on female parts which in turn made the book feel kind of dreary.
Not a series I would recommend unfortunately
Side note,if Greg was a serious prepper, I don’t know why he would have his bug out cabin in a area where there’s a possibility of tornados or build on low ground near a river

Worth a listen

Despite feeling very American in the way it was written and a couple of plot holes, this series was entertaining, engaging and worth a listen. The military insights and great characters pull you in and keep you engaged. The narrator took some getting used to, but I enjoyed this and would happily recommend it.
