Publisher's Summary

Joining us at Audible Studios is Irish physicist, cancer researcher and science writer David Grimes, who has penned his first book, The Irrational Ape, which aims to illustrate the power of critical thinking, and how it can literally save the world.

David Grimes attended Dublin City University, and was funded by the Irish Research Council for his post doctorate at the University of Oxford, where he studied medical physics and oncology, beginning his career in cancer research. David Grimes is well-known as a science writer, and has contributed articles to the BBC, Irish Times and The Guardian. His writing focuses on debunking pseudoscience, which has led to controversy and debates, especially on topics such as vaccination, medicinal cannabis and homeopathy. His most recent offensive is geared towards education: how poor communication and information deficit are the nemesis of public knowledge and awareness.

David Grimes speaks to us about how as humans we look to balance the rational and the emotional, why we need to be skeptical about everything, and why some issues should not be debated.
