Billions died during the First Trial on Day One. The day the devil came to Earth to play. The Planetary Games. An intergalactic game show. Earth is the Colosseum—and humanity its gladiators. Empowered with alien magic and knowledge, humanity is pitted against each other in a vicious struggle for supremacy, where there is only one survivor. Dan is dead set on making it to the end, but not for himself. Every night, Dan dreams of the family that died, but he wasn’t the only one who survived the First Trial. His sons gave their lives protecting their newborn sister, Aurora. Their sacrifice will not be in vain. He will do whatever it takes to ensure she makes it to the end before taking his own life. Aurora will win the Planetary Games. The only problem is, young children were never meant to survive the first trial, let alone the rest of the game. An exciting new LitRPG Apocalypse series by K. J. Kiki.
Perfect for fans of Dungeon Crawler Carl and Defiance of the Fall. LitRPG mechanics such as classes and skills. Weak to strong MC. Multiple POV. Mature Content. No explicit sexual content.
©2025 Kaden Kiki (P)2026 Kaden KikiFew quibbles around the male MC being a touch dull, side characters lack any real motivation or reason for why they do what they do. Everyone who isn't the main characters is just evil for the plots sake, or complete cannon fodder to be slaughtered.
My biggest pain point is the male narrator. Female one was great, but the guy has a very awkward cadence to his reading with meaningful pauses at very odd points. There are also some INTENSE emotional scenes, but he completely fails to imbue anything with emotion at all.
Would recommend, though personally worried book 2 will be a dnf.
Decent story, woeful narration.
