Summary
Auf Gut Sonnenhof hat Black Beauty ein schönes Leben. Er wird von Direktor Lehmann, dem Gutsbesitzer geritten oder für Kutschfahrten zusammen mit der Stute Ginger eingespannt. Eines Nachts rettet Black Beauty Ginger und andere Pferde aus dem brennenden Stall.
Als die Gutsherrin plötzlich schwer erkrankt, bringt der Hengst mitten in der Nacht den gerufenen Arzt mit einem kühnen Ritt so schnell es nur geht zum Gutshof. Nach diesem wichtigen "Rennen" wird der Hengst ernsthaft krank. Direktor Lehmann muss Gut Sonnenhof aufgeben und alle Pferde verkaufen. Dadurch beginnt für Black Beauty und die Stute Ginger eine schwere Zeit auf Schloss Föhrenstein.
