About this listen
Sandu Berdardi continues to exist only to protect his people. An ancient Carpathian, his entire long life has been dedicated to honor above all else. He knows his time has passed, especially since he has not been able to find his lifemate - the anchor to keep him sane in a world he no longer understands. But just as he truly starts to give up hope, a voice reaches out to him in the night and his world explodes into color.
Adalasia enters Sandu's mind seamlessly, as if she has been a part of him forever. While she can see the shape of things to come in her deck of cards, her gift is both a blessing and a curse. The true course of Sandu's quest remains unclear, with danger waiting at every turn. She cannot see everything the future holds, but she does know it is a journey they will take together.
By joining him, she will start them down a dangerous, seductive path from which there is no coming back....
©2021 Christine Feehan (P)2021 Recorded Books, Inc.this is my first elogsyed written review as I love both written and audio book styles and favour audio as a good narrator can bring characters to life. sorry I struggled with this audio version although I enjoy all the 'dark carpathian' series.
THIS BOOK
Refreshing components:
*different overall story plan than normal.
*faster pace with alternative focal areas yet holds enough of the original plan styles to keep you familiar.
*great to have multiple old and new characters in this book....
sometimes tricky to listen to:
*sorry, for me, narration lacked warmth/emotion/commitment to characters in most areas until 2/3 way into book.
*pausing needed to be refined with blending/spacing/pace of dialogue adjusted to enhance listener connection.
*main narration challenges are between character changes and definitely between English and Carpathian transitions. if possible, please can this be corrected for next edition.
* sadly a lot of sentences were monotone and in quite a number of cases, abruptly disconnected instead of the warranted smooth, sultry and warm characteristics expressed in the words. these challenges caused dialogue to blur between characters.
if listener can persist with the above factors the storyline is fresh and interesting. I recommend the series both in written form and audio versions.
good set up for next stories but ...
