Publisher's Summary

Darius son of Marklon isn't looking for love the night destiny comes to claim him. He's also not interested in crashing his new car. But when a human woman runs out into the road and he must swerve to avoid killing her...everything goes off course.

Disillusioned by his King's lack of leadership and the losses in the war against the Lessening Society, Darius finds purpose in protecting a woman he cannot make his own. Love finds a way, however—until the truth of what he is comes out and she leaves him in horror.

Unbeknownst to them both, Anne is carrying his young, a female who is destined to be Queen—and after a tragic reunion, he vows to protect their daughter. Resigned to perpetual sadness, he is determined to serve the memory of his beloved no matter the cost...unless by some miracle, fate sees fit to once again bring them together.

Wait until after book “The King”

I loved this so much! The story was beautiful and gave you so much insight to Darius. Don’t listen to it before dark lover however.

I should have waited until after book 12 but I was waiting for my books in the post and needed my black dagger brotherhood fix.

It did have a few spoilers but not too much.

It’s a story I would happily listen to again, the voice actor was hard to get used too but eventually once you start listening to the story and less of the speaker it doesn’t bother you too much.

I loved how it was a natural and fitting story line and the growth of the characters.

Thank you J.R Ward for giving Darius the story he deserved.

Amazing for Darius

What an amazing book for Darius’ story. Just perfect and the perfect reader with a husky voice to set the scene.

Heartbreakingly good.

Jim Frangione and J R Ward tell a wonderful love story full of danger, obsession and caring. I really love the Blackdagger Brotherhood books. This was my first audio book and it really opened the world to me through another sense. I am now going to listen to all the books.

A little disappointed.....

That it wasn't LONGER!!!! Loved the prequel to the Black Dagger Brotherhood's Series. Really tied the whole lot together and gave us some insight to a pivotal character we really never met although we knew a lot about.

Perfect read!

Loved how this was put together and that we caught glimpses of life within the brotherhood. This is what I want from a long running series glimpses of the day to day of our favourite hero’s.

Think Im done with this series

So Darius claims Anne is his mate & we’re to believe he didn’t keep tabs on her until he’s called to the hospital…

This was boring. There was no chemistry or personalities of the 2 main characters. The only good thing was the cameo’s of the other Brothers. Felt like such a wasted opportunity…. But Ive been feeling that about this series since Lover Unleashed.
