Publisher's Summary

Daisy Darker is an all-consuming tale of psychological suspense with a spectacular twist from the internationally bestselling author Alice Feeney, inspired by Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

Isolated on their private island in Cornwall, the Darker family have come together for the first time in over a decade. When the tide comes in, they'll be cut off from the rest of the world for eight hours. When the tide goes back out, nothing will ever be the same again. Nothing – because one of the family is a killer . . .

As the leaves of autumn fall, Daisy Darker arrives at her grandmother’s house for eightieth birthday celebrations. Seaglass, the Darker’s ancestral home, is a crumbling Cornish house perched upon its own tiny private island.

Every member of the family has their secrets. Nana, alone for so long. Daisy's absent father, Frank. Her cold-hearted mother, Nancy. Her siblings, Rose and Lily, and her niece, Trixie, full of questions and without a father of her own. Daisy has never had an easy relationship with her family, but some secrets are much darker than others. This will be a gathering that some of them won't remember.

Critic Reviews

"Wow! Echoes of Christie's And Then There Were None but turned into something wonderfully original and wrapped in a genuinely creepy dysfunctional family fairy tale of a novel, this takes Feeney to the next level. Loved it!" (Sarah Pinborough, author of number one best-selling Behind Her Eyes)

"Clever, sinister, claustrophobic, beguiling and utterly compelling. I was totally hooked from the first sentence." (Peter James)

"So many nasty secrets. And that's before the bodies start to pile up! I've always been an Alice Feeney fan—but I think she's outdone herself with this startling murderfest!" (R.L. Stine)

Could not finish due to narrator

Urgh. The narrator.. I tried and got to within 5 hours of the end- I was enjoying the story and wanted to find out what happens in the end but the narrator read the story like she was an overacting daydreamer. Urgh. I couldn’t stand it. Might have to read the book instead.

Great Halloween Read

Set at Halloween this is a great morbid thriller for the Halloween season.
I picked one of the twists! But I was second-guessing myself even then. I enjoyed this one a lot, and the twists and turns carried me along for the ride.

Twists until the end

What a great story - the further I went into the story I tried to work out what was going on. Wow! Had me captivated to the end.

Great story, poor narrator

Daisy Darker is a great story with a clever twist. Unfortunately I found the narrator very difficult to listen to. It felt like she was reading a story to a group of five year olds. Her tendency to drop her voice to a whisper at the end of sentences also meant you missed key words and had to replay.

So disappointing.

It was all so painfully obvious, not much of a mystery. Not scary despite people dropping left and right. The narrators pronunciation of the word ‘room’ was like nails on a chalk board. I struggled to finish. Apologies for this dismal review. I cannot finish this silly book.

Gave up after 1 hour - the narrator is awful

It’s difficult to review this book as the narrator made it unlistenable. Overacted and annoying.
