It was the evening of 16 May 1943. Nineteen modified Lancaster bombers from 617 Squadron RAF, under the command of youthful Wing Commander Guy Gibson, roared into the night sky from their Lincolnshire base. They were on a top-secret Bomber Command mission, codenamed Operation Chastise, now regarded as one of the most dangerous and audacious bombing raids of World War II - an attack on the formidable, well-defended dams of Germany’s Ruhr Valley. Slung beneath the belly of each aircraft was one of the war’s greatest secrets - a bouncing bomb.

How can you not love these guys.. and odd lady
Any additional comments?
Dad's Army is a often repeated and often enjoyed series. The characters are wonderful and are like everyone's grandad.
I have loved the TV show since I was a young lad and continue to do so now I am much older.
The only downside for me is that these are straight from TV and therefore some of the humor is visual. However, I defy many people not to have seen the episodes and remember them well for this to only be a small downside.
Highly recommended to brighten any dull day. I am still working my way through for when I have a particularly trying day or feel the need for a lift. This is one audio book I go too.

Unsurprisingly Wonderful!
Apart from being superb value for credit, as it were, where sheer amount of content is concerned the real selling point here are the wonderful, charming, comic scripts adapted from their televisual counterparts. While it is a shame that the original Pvt. Walker wasn't able to take part the rest of the cast are all present and correct with each member of the troupe proving their chops as radio actors (even if Clive Dunn does mug for the microphone more often than he should).
Very funny, and a very worthy title.

Dads Army (radio version of television episodes) series one. Audible.
Absolutely hilarious, some bits are slightly different from the TV episodes, such as, for some of it Private Walker is not players by James Beck who portrayed Private Walker in the TV series until his untimely death, but this in NO WAY detracts from how good this is, it is well worth purchasing this for the nostalgia alone with the hilarious comedy as a bonus. I have no hesitation in giving it 5 stars and would give it 100 stars if it were possible. VERY highly recommended.
