Publisher's Summary

In Danielle Steel’s riveting novel, three women raised by their father on a sprawling California ranch now confront difficult truths about their past.

Decades ago, after the death of his wife, Texas ranch hand JT Tucker took his three small daughters to California to start a new life. With almost no money, a will of iron, and hard work, he eventually built the biggest ranch in California. But when he dies suddenly at the age of 64, the ranch is inherited by his three daughters - each of them finding it impossible to believe that this larger-than-life figure is gone from their lives.

JT’s relationship with each daughter was entirely different. Caroline, the youngest and most reserved, was overlooked by her father for her entire life and fled to become a wife, mother, and writer in Marin County. Gemma, his declared favorite, sought out Hollywood glamour and success and became a major television star. Kate, the eldest, stayed at home with her father to do his bidding as a ranch hand, without thanks or praise, forsaking marriage and a family of her own for the love of him.

Now, upon JT’s death, the paper trail he leaves behind begins to reveal much more than the three sisters ever guessed about who he really was. It will turn their world upside down, and each of them must grapple with a new reality, strengthening their relationships with one another and discovering who they are now as grown women, in spite of him.

Set against the magnificent backdrop of the West and the drama of a family in turmoil, Daddy’s Girls is the story of three remarkable women and their unique bond to each other - the daughters of a complex, many-faceted, domineering father who left his mark on each of them.

Boring!

I simply could not get into this book! D J Miller is a fine narrator, though. I just thought the story was a sleeper.

What’s the problem?

I don’t know if I will spend anymore money on DS books. She has always been one of my favorite authors, but lately I’m very concerned about her. Is she getting Alzheimer’s or dementia? I started noticing a couple of years ago that she repeats herself often or says the same thing in a different way. I feel like her books would only be half as long if all the redundant lines were taken out. And what the heck is wrong with the editor? This is something that should be easily caught. It’s too bad because her stories are usually so good.

Food for the soul

Before reading this book I hadnt bought a D. steel novel since last year sometime. I added some new authors to my list and was off exploring them. This book showed up in my recommendations. This was a good one! The back drop was a ranch the book explained nuisances of ranch life but not too much. The title made me expect something about a spoiled kid but it was nothing about that. It was about sisters, family, not giving up , forgiveness and reinventing yourself and trying new things. Bonus information personal money hardships...and overcoming. This was a good book.. I want sisters😂

Horrible.

Talk about repetitive! Over and over and over the same uninteresting story. A big waste of a credit.

I was able to predict some of the story pathways but the details in between made it worth the read. I was sure I knew how it would end and it surprised me!!

I really enjoy Dan John Miller as a reader. He is so expressive. I could relate to these characters. I think any Daddy's girl could.

Nothing very different to write about

I love Danielle Steel books but every so often she releases one that just doesn't reach the same mark. The setting for the story is different but it is also so predictable and drawn out regarding the characters. The narration as ever, by Dan John Miller is good, but I wouldn't recommend buying it.

The Best Danielle Steel book for a while.

I’m a big fan of Danielle’s books, have read all of them, and always listen to her new titles as soon as they are released on audible. Dan John Miller does a good job of narration on many of her audiobooks.
DADDY’S GIRLS was very satisfying and enjoyable. Danielle Steel at her very best, with well paced and planned plot lines and her usual heartwarming conclusion. I really loved this book, as, in more recent times some of her prolific output seemed poorly paced with rushed writing perhaps, as she publishes six new titles annually in more recent years.
I am glad that she is still driven to write as she is a tonic during hard times, and a skilled storyteller.
This book has well drawn and interesting characters each of whom get good descriptive characteristics. If you’re looking for a really good escape into a family story with a good plot and satisfying ending, then this one is for you.
