Publisher's Summary

Cast out by her kingdom and far from home, she's the Kanin people's only hope. Bryn Aven - unjustly charged with murder and treason - is on the run. The one person who can help is her greatest enemy, the gorgeous and enigmatic Konstantin Black. Konstantin is her only ally against those who have taken over her kingdom and threaten to destroy everything she holds dear. But can she trust him?

As Bryn fights to clear her name, the Kanin rulers' darkest secrets are coming to light... and now the entire troll world is on the brink of war. Will it tear Bryn from Ridley Dresden, the only guy she's ever loved? And can she join forces with Finn Holms and the Trylle kingdom? Nothing is as it seems, but one thing is certain: an epic battle is underway - and when it's complete, nothing will ever be the same....

Amazing story!!!

One of the best books I've listened to and it's such a good book and the way that it's written and the characters you can get lost in the world I would absolutely recommend this book.

Content not for young readers

Book was good but with the language and sex I would not say it is suitable for young readers. It is listed for ages 11-13 but the content is not appropriate for 5-8 graders.

Painful

The premise was REALLY good. Excellent plot twists, unexpected turns. The heroine was AWFUL. She was just kind of stupid, not very bright. And there’s nothing worse than a passive whiner. The things that kept going wrong for her that she kept whining about were happening because she just wasn’t very clever. The two deaths of those closest to her would never have happened if she hadn’t needlessly taken them with her into danger or needlessly brought the danger to them. Unnecessary plot points. Overall, this book was painful. Only two bright spots: the premise, and how the author handled the love triangle. Feel free to skip this one and read the cliffs notes version online somewhere.

good read

this book was a good read although the love interests once finally figured out and decided who to be with didn't seem to have enough resolution that it would leave it open for another book to explain once they figured out they both loved each other how they planned to be together beyond that.

Amazing

This is when everything goes down in the series. As you read through the book, you worry for Bryn and if everything will turn out right for her, leaving you hooked until the end. I love the Kanin Chronicles and I recommend this trilogy.

Uncertain But Not Unhappy

There is lots of death and chaos in this one. Usually I like that, but I struggled with this story more than the others. The end felt a bit abrupt to me, but it’s reasonably thorough, which means it was probably just me. The narration is still excellent.

Only Okay

I was so sick of the how many times the author used the word "sorry" we got it from the beginning that is was the Canadian pronunciation. I felt bad for Eileen Stevens to have keep saying the word.

Good story but disappointing delivery

I love Amanda Hocking stories and these don't disappoint. What was a struggle was the narrator who mispronounced the name Niamh in all three books and spent much of the story either using the same accusatory voice for the main character or making the males voices sound as if they all had a cold and were rather dumb. I will read her books now rather than listen to them if this narrator is used for future novels.
