A terrific read and listen
Authors who record their own works rarely appeal to me. How wrong I was here. SM makes the music of the words flow, he lets the action speak for itself and he does accents brilliantly. His insights into the life of the mercenary and the sometimes dubious backers was revelatory. He has a fearsome story to tell and captures the African ethos so well. And the British. Having lived in Sierra Leone I found myself back there speaking the lingo with him. A terrific book.
