Crossroads by Riley Hart had me grinning like a fool. The communication between these two? Chef’s kiss. No petty miscommunication drama, no storming off for six chapters — just mature, respectful, sexy men actually using their words (a miracle in fiction these days). Their chemistry was sizzling without being over the top, and both characters were so lovable I’d fight someone for them. Honestly, it felt like reading about two emotionally evolved unicorns who happen to fall in love — and I ate it up. More of this, please!

Still smarting from his divorce, chef Nick Fuller doesn’t have much time for friends or dating until his new next-door neighbour takes him under his wing. The youngest in his family and most the carefree, motorbike mechanic Bryce Tanner has often frustrated them by continually chopping and changing careers, interests, and girlfriends. Both men’s family want them to settle down with a nice girl and both are baffled when Nick and Bryce start falling for each other. It’s not often you come across an m/m romance where both guys have never even considered another guy before they meet each other and while everyone else needs time to adjust, Nick and Bryce have fun exploring a whole new world - I think that’s what I liked most about this. There’s mild to medium family angst and some steam here for those who enjoy that and the MCs are really decent guys, they’re a pleasure to spend time with. The warm, smooth stylings of audio narrator Sean Crisden made this slip down like melted chocolate - so yummy!

I really enjoyed this, Nick & Bryce were so sweet, sexy and have great chemistry. They’re both ‘straight’ but their growing friendship and flirting blossoms into an unexpected love for one another. The sex is super hot with no holds barred - every idea and inch of these guys’ body is explored in explicit detail, so if that is the main reason you want to read this you won’t be disappointed. The narration for the most part was good for the male characters, not so much for the female characters but that was ok as they weren’t so much the focus of the story. Anyhow, this was great and really sexy and I hope to check out more of her books.

It's great to listen to a story that doesn't shy away from the complexities that arise when people come out as gay. The main characters are adults and they're not all angsty and neurotic. They express their feelings and misgivings without overdramatizing. The HEA feels a little too contrived, but by then I was so charmed by the characters, that I didn't care.
