Publisher's Summary

Alex Cross chases a cold-blooded killer...with a conscience.

Shots ring out in the early morning hours in the suburbs of Washington, DC. When the smoke clears, a prominent police official lies dead, leaving the city's police force scrambling for answers. Under pressure from the mayor, Alex Cross steps into the leadership vacuum to investigate the case. But before Cross can make any headway, a brutal crime wave sweeps across the region.

The deadly scenes share only one common thread - the victims are all criminals. And the only thing more dangerous than a murderer without a conscience is a killer who thinks he has justice on his side.

As Cross pursues an adversary who has appointed himself judge, jury, and executioner, he must take the law back into his own hands before the city he's sworn to protect descends into utter chaos.

Cross the Line

Love Alex Cross books and this one was excellent as normal. The narration was very good and made the story come alive.

Disappointed

Thin unimaginative storyline. I felt it was written for the sake of writing it. James Patterson just going through the motions. Maybe he needed the money for a new kitchen or something. Yawn

Enjoyable...

My first Patterson listen, and I wasn't disappointed. I thought it was a solid story, well narrated and kept flowing.
Will happily listen to more Patterson...

Cross justice

I quite enjoyed this although I jumped a few times (as you are happily listening and all of a sudden you got very loud sound effects like car chases or gun fire and sometimes the effects made it hard to hear the narration). It was nice having two different voices one for Alex and co and then it would change to give you the baddies point of view in the other voice, so no confusion as to who point of view it was.

It did get a bit confusing in the story as Alex and the team are working on 3 different case, at the same time so jumped around a bit. Not one of Mr Payttterson better stories but would still listen to it again in a few months time.

very few credible twists and turns

you can see the ending plodding towards you from about halfway. nicely read but very pedestrian.

It's OK

Not bad. A good story, but I'm sure many teenagers are more skilled with prose than Patterson.
I'd read another of his.
